Description

Part One:Part One: Apple Jack and Apple Pie by Aurora-Chiaro
This is the Part Two that follows up with the previous piece:heart:by us two:iconaurora-chiaro::iconsorelstrasz:It was an "extension" of the first artwork:deviation:with:iconsadapplejackplz:looking at an old photo:cries:This idea truly emerged from my amazing and yet talented friend:iconsorelstrasz:so I cannot take any credit for this part:bow:He wanted it to be more meaningful because of how the Apple Family constantly stresses on "the importance of family":tighthug:and relate it to the passing of my grandfather:floating:Throughout the episodes it has been a consistent symbol within that family:love:

Apple Jack:iconhappyapplejackplz:always exhibits remarkable characteristics in which I feel she represents the same attributes as her mother:aww:Like my grandfather has always stated, "What should matter most in anyone's family that should never be taken for granted are: health and family." I hope you all like and learn something from this piece:heart:Remember that family should be most important in everyone's life:hug:

.....Last but not least you should all watch my friend:iconsorelstrasz:

As I have done the first time I have written a critique, the rating process is in fact backwards.

~~IMPACT
Just... the look at the picture-- one glance, and I am struck speechless. It communicates a wonderful message about memory and facing heart-break. You two put your heads together, and what came out was just... plain genius. The feelings that came out from this-- well, I've already told you that. The effect of this picture is absolutely heart-warming. However, for whatever reason, this picture-- the entire picture-- sort of... lacks life, to be honest.
We know Applejack is looking at the picture... that's just it. We already have enough feels. But she's just holding it. No other emotion is created from her. We're experiencing heart-warming and heart-ache, but what emotion is Applejack experiencing? I know we're supposed to be looking at Applejack's perspective of the picture, but she's just looking at it. No other emotion is created from this, and after I realized it... all of the emotion was sucked out of it. I'm sorry, but this is the cold truth.
IMPACT = 3.5 / 5

~~TECHNIQUE
The texture used for the dirty picture, along with the lighting, gives me the impression that what we're looking at, is in fact, a photograph. I know I'm addressing the obvious with that sentence, but to look seriously into the picture frame, it lacks proper shading, although the outside does have some of the right shading. All we're focusing on, of course, is the picture frame, and you remind us so by making the outside simplistic. However, to be honest, where the heck did the dark brown wooden wall come from, anyways? Eh, it's still a great picture.
Like I mentioned before, the picture lacks certain shading, but also the mother's muzzle looks kind of odd, and makes her face look flat. But to be honest... I don't really know how to tell you how to fix it. Otherwise, this is really great picture.
TECHNIQUE = 4 / 5

~~ORIGINALITY
As heartwarming this is, Applejack's parents have been in debate. And the fanbase has been thinking about them for quite a bit.
Let me get to the point. The parents picture is overdone, and so is the feels. But the idea of Applejack staring at the picture... a little less overdone.
ORIGINALITY = 1 / 5

~~VISION (I dunno what it is, though)
It's simply heart-warming to know that the original piece was expanded because of the thoughts of the collaborator knowing that family is important. This is simply stunning, and I think you both did a wonderful job. It feels as if one person worked on it, and the meaning and sentimental value poured into the work is just so... powerful. It conveys heartwarming and teamwork at it's best.
VISION = 5 / 5

FINAL SCORE = 5 + 1 + 4 + 3.5 = 13.5 / 20
This piece is wonderful and heartwarming, but it sort of lacks, to be honest. Applejack and her parents are rather overdone, but of course, it's fun to interpret and try to figure out who her parents are. Nonetheless, the picture may lack some shading, but it still retains it's beauty and emotion pressed within. I have to thank you two, Aurora and Sorel. Thank you for creating a wonderful piece, and I cannot wait to see more of it.
